THE REVIEW:
In a field riddled with stories about rock stars, Sawyer Bennett brings a different twist to her book. Oftentimes with romances that feature a male musician, the narrative revolves around the insecurity of the lead female - is she good enough to keep him, how will she stave off all the groupies, will the hero see the woman for who she really is? In Off Course, there is a little of that, but the drama really revolves around the price the girlfriend pays in order for the hero to play "knight in shining armor." Playing hero does exact a price and it is often at the sacrifice of the relationships in the hero's life. I thought this was a different take on a rockstar romance.
This book also solidifies Sawyer Bennett as the Queen of Sweet. I've said this before but I think this bears especially true here; she really knows how to bring on the "sweet". When Cillian is at his most vulnerable, he is completely irresistible. His soul-bearing dialogue feels genuine and hits me right in the heart.
When I began this book, I didn't know where this was going. However, the more I read, the more I began to love both Cillian and Renner. Truth be told, I'd say that Cillian gives Linc a run for the money as the top "Off" hero.
IN A NUTSHELL: Thank you, Sawyer Bennett for another great addition to the Off Series. I'm both looking forward to and dreading Flynn's story knowing that it will be the end to the series.
