SUNNY: ARC REVIEW "Cold Blooded" by Amanda Carlson

SUMMARY
Jessica arrives back in town to find her best friend missing and the most powerful witch in the country is blaming her for it. But before they can move to save her, the group is attacked.

On the run, Jessica and Rourke head to the mountains. Several surprises await them, but in order to save her father they are forced to leave for New Orleans early. The vicious skirmish ends up forcing the vamps and Jessica to fight on the same team.

REVIEW
When I received this ARC, it game me the perfect opportunity to read the first two books in the series, Full Blooded and Hot Blooded.  I appreciated the background and the context, it is important in establishing the relationships between the characters, but this book is where the real action runs full force.

Jessica is a strong character who heads into completely uncharted waters.  She is the one and only female werewolf ever.  Her soulmate is also a one-and-only and they have an immediate and combustible chemistry.  I like Jessica's maturity and confidence.  She is witty, not snarky.  She has a strong relationship with the members of her pack and they respect (or fear) her for what she represents.  There is a prophecy that she will have unique skills and be the harbinger of doom.  I love the camaraderie, protectiveness and care her friends show her.

Jessica's relationship with Royce is also very entertaining and hot.  They have the kind of devil-may-care-we-are-so-hot-for-each-other attraction.  They are well matched in fighting skills, wit, and humor.

The ending surprised me. I did not see that one coming.  I'm reminded that I am reading an ARC and the wait for the next book is going to be impossibly long.

IN A NUTSHELL:
After wading through the first book, getting the engine started in the second, we are finally taking off on this third installment of the Jessica McClain series - and this one's a doozy!

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
