In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say that I am
a Katie Reus fan. I have read all 10
books in her Red Stone Security series, the Serafina: Sin City and Dark series. However, I have not read a single book in the
Moon Shifter series and this is book FIVE.
I am happy to say that Ms. Reus has hit a homerun. I don’t always love it when my
favorite contemporary authors go into the paranormal romance realm. Sometimes the elements don’t translate well
and things get a little wonky. I am
happy to say this is NOT the case here.
I loved the story. I thought it was creative, suspenseful and fun. The author brings the right level of
emotionality so that we, as readers, get hooked into the drama.
I’ve said this before and it is still true. Katie Reus’ books would make great
movies. Her writing is engaging - it
pumps up the blood pressure, and is very visual. Having not read the previous four books, I
had a small concern whether this book could stand alone. I’m not a huge fan of jumping to the middle
of a series, but what I realize is that it all depends on the author. At no time during the story did I feel lost.
The author provides plenty of context and enticing details that made me want to
read the earlier books instead of putting me off.
Whether you are a long time fan of Katie Reus or new to her
books, you will enjoy this read.
